Fine blanking
Fine blanking is a manufacturing process for the chipless, precise blanking of metallic materials with a high proportion of smooth cuts and very little material breakage in the cut surface. The process normally requires a triple-acting press. Before cutting begins, the sheet metal is held in place by a form-fitting hold-down device, the ring-shaped serrated plate. Between the die and the ring-shaped serrated plate, as well as between the cutting punch and the counter punch. The part is cut out in this state. The cutting gap between the cutting punch and the die is only approx. 0.5% of the part thickness.
On normal presses with a transfer or progressive die, the cutting gap is usually between 2% and 7% of the sheet thickness. This large cutting gap leads to burr formation, draw-in, uneven edges, and more offset, resulting in larger manufacturing tolerances. For a long time, it was not possible to achieve tight tolerances for larger components, or it was necessary to invest in a fine blanking press. PFS fine blanking pads fill this gap.
Fine blanking pads
Our patented fine blanking pads are integrated directly into the tool design as a “standard part.” All that is required is the installation space and electrical control for the integrated control valves. Otherwise, our fine blanking pads use the energy of the press. We currently offer four different sizes with counterforces of up to 900 kN and a maximum stroke of 10 mm.
This makes fine blanking possible in almost any press.
